Iridium avionics platforms have been used for Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A since 2008, and Safety Voice services have been offered since 2014, enabling Minimum Equipment List relief for HF radio long-range communications. Iridium Certus avionics platforms are being designed to be fully compliant with the future SATCOM air traffic communication requirements of both FAA NextGen and SESAR.
